OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a visionary Editorial Director who can craft stories that move, inspire, and connect. This person plays an essential role in shaping the brand voice across all marketing channels, including digital, print, and performance and organic social media. You’ll drive content strategy, create compelling narratives, and help us share the deeper stories behind our collections, community, and commitment to wellness.

RESPONSIBILTIES 

  • Lead with Inspiration: Manage and mentor our copy team to create meaningful, engaging, and on-brand copy that resonates with our audience across all channels—whether it’s a powerful Instagram caption, a compelling email, or in-depth website content.
  • Shape Our Story: Develop and execute a bold editorial strategy that reflects the Alo Yoga ethos and elevates our brand as a leader in mindful movement and wellness. You’ll be the guardian of our voice, ensuring it’s strong, authentic, and consistent.
  • Craft Compelling Narratives: Identify storytelling moments that align with our seasonal collections, product launches, community events, and beyond. Dive deep into the ‘why’ behind our brand and bring our purpose to life through powerful copy.
  • Collaborate & Elevate: Partner closely with the Marketing, Creative, Product, and Social Media teams to ensure our stories are seamlessly woven through all content and campaigns. Together, we’ll create a holistic brand experience that inspires and empowers.
  • Own the Editorial Calendar: Oversee the editorial calendar to ensure every piece of content is delivered on time and on point, coordinating with teams to meet deadlines and align on priorities.
  • Optimize for Impact: Collaborate with our digital marketing and SEO teams to ensure every word is not just beautifully written but also optimized for performance. Analyze content metrics to continually refine our storytelling approach.
  • Be a Brand Advocate: Act as a passionate advocate for Alo Yoga’s mission of mindful movement, wellness, and community. Lead the charge in building our brand’s thought leadership in the wellness space.
  • Mentor & Grow Talent: Provide guidance, feedback, and growth opportunities for the copy team, fostering an environment where creativity and collaboration thrive.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A deep love for words and storytelling, with 10+ years of experience in editorial roles focused on brand copy, content strategy, and team leadership—ideally in the lifestyle, fashion, wellness, or fitness industries.
  • A strong portfolio that showcases your ability to create engaging, on-brand narratives that drive connection and action.
  • Proven success in developing content strategies that fuel brand engagement and growth.
  • A natural leader who thrives on mentoring teams and elevating others to do their best work.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills with a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of brand voice and tone.
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of SEO and experience optimizing content for digital channels.

The base salary range for this position is $180,000 - $190,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
