Head of Wealth Planning

The Head of Wealth Planning at Allworth Financial is a senior leadership role responsible for steering the firm’s overall financial planning methodology. This role encompasses leadership in key areas such as Financial Planning, Retirement Planning, Investment Products, Risk and Insurance, Estate Planning, and Tax Planning. The successful candidate will lead a centralized team of wealth planning experts, manage Allworth's wealth planning toolset, and oversee integrated service delivery teams specializing in Insurance and Estate Planning. This role also requires coordination with various departments to assess and implement new tools, products, and services, and to ensure that Allworth remains at the forefront of financial planning practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and provide strategic leadership for Allworth Financials’ comprehensive wealth planning methodology, ensuring it aligns with the firm's goals and client needs.
  • Lead the evolution of wealth planning strategies across Financial Planning, Retirement Planning, Investment Products, Risk and Insurance, Estate Planning, and Tax Planning.

Team Leadership:

  • Oversee a centralized team of financial planning experts who serve as a resource across the Allworth advisor population, offering consultation and support in developing comprehensive wealth planning strategies.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation, professional growth, and the consistent delivery of high-quality wealth planning services.

Wealth Planning Toolset Management:

  • Own and manage Allworth’s financial planning toolset, ensuring its effective use across the organization and assessing opportunities for new and upgraded capabilities.
  • Evaluate and implement new tools and products that enhance the wealth planning process, improve efficiency, and deliver value to both clients and advisors.

Integrated Service Delivery:

  • Lead and coordinate integrated service delivery teams specializing in Insurance and Estate Planning, ensuring these services are effectively integrated into the broader wealth planning framework used by Allworth’s Financial Advisors.
  • Oversee client engagement strategies in these areas, ensuring high-quality service delivery and client satisfaction.

Collaboration & Training:

  • Work closely with the Head of Practice Management and other stakeholders to develop and deliver training programs that enhance wealth planning and product execution capabilities across the advisor network.
  • Ensure planning methodologies are aligned with the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices, equipping advisors to deliver exceptional client service.

Advisor Relationships:

  • Maintain strong relationships with Allworth’s top financial advisors, incorporating their feedback and best practices into the firm’s wealth planning methodology.
  • Act as a key point of contact for advisors, ensuring their needs are met and their insights are integrated into the broader strategic direction.

Regulatory & Industry Leadership:

  • Keep Allworth at the cutting edge of wealth planning concepts, staying current with associated rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Ensure that all wealth planning practices adhere to regulatory requirements and industry standards, while also driving innovation.

Cross-Departmental Coordination:

  • Collaborate with Financial Services Leadership team, Technology, Finance, Compliance, and other Allworth teams to evaluate and implement new products and services.
  • Ensure that all new tools, products, and services are effectively integrated into the firm’s wealth planning processes and deliver measurable benefits.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CFP®, CFA®, ChFC®, or similar credentials.
  • A minimum of 20 years of experience in financial planning, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial planning, investment products, retirement planning, risk management, estate planning, and tax strategies.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams of financial professionals and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Strong proficiency in financial planning software and tools, with a track record of evaluating and implementing new technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and implement initiatives that align with organizational goals.
