About The Role
We are looking for an out-of-the-box thinker to join the Analytical Development team within our growing tRNA CMC Group. The candidate will work within a developing Analytical team and collaborate with biologists, synthetic chemists, and engineers. The primary focus will be the development and performance of analytical methods for internal manufacturing process characterization as well as the management of external CROs testing. In addition, the role will assist and lead the development of analytical in-process and release methods while supporting innovative approaches to synthesis and control of the quality attributes of novel tRNA compounds.

Development and optimization of analytical methods to characterize tRNA oligonucleotides and their degradation products, and identification of other critical quality attributes by a variety of analytical instrumentation (UHPLC, LC-MS, LC-TOF and QTOF, osmometer, pH, etc.) using different techniques (IP-RP, HIC, HILIC, ELSD etc.).
Development and optimization of analytical methods for LNP analysis, including charge, particle size, and lipid content through various techniques (LC-CAD, Zetasizer).
Operation, upkeep, and maintenance of analytical lab instrumentation, including Agilent UHPLCs with various detectors, high resolution, and single quad mass spectrometers. Ability to act as instrument subject matter expert to assist other scientists with analysis and maintenance.
Support the internal process development and synthesis efforts, including amidite characterization, impurity identification, and quantification.
Identify and exploit new scientific concepts, strong problem-solving skills, and be self-motivated to contribute across multiple projects.
Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline. BS with 8 years, MS with 5 years, or Ph.D. with direct experience in analytical development. Experience with direct analytical development of oligonucleotide or RNA therapeutics is favorable. Experience with lipid nanoparticle analysis is a plus.
Knowledge of Agilent OpenLab CDS and ChemStation software use. Operational and maintenance knowledge of Agilent 1260 HPLC/1290 UHPLC system and single quad mass spectrometers. Time of Flight (ToF) and quadrupole time-of-flight (QToF) operation and data analysis using MassHunter software a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on reporting and presenting data, drafting SOPs and analytical methods, and presenting to small and internal groups.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance the requirements of working on multiple projects simultaneously with various scientific stakeholders.
