The Opportunity

The Search team at Algolia runs the world’s fastest and most relevant search engine in the world. We operate one platform that covers ALL retrieval methods - keyword, semantic, db, and others. We eat, breathe, and sleep highly available and highly reliable services (4 9s is our minimum threshold). We build products that enable anyone to easily connect any data source and retrieve and collate content across multiple data sources. The future of this space is vector DBs and vector search, and we are actively bringing products to the market that marry our best-in-class keyword search technology with the future of search. We inform our customers how best to optimize their discovery engines through automation and products. We run both public cloud and our own bare metal, because we demand the best performance. And, we are just getting started. 

The Team

The Search team is a remote first, multicultural team that believes our diversity should match the world around us. We are looking for a VP of Product who can define the long-term vision, articulate a long-term strategy, grow a global team of Product leaders, establish strong product mechanisms, build a roadmap and drive execution for ALL product lines within Search. As the VP of Product, you will deeply understand and instrument our activation funnel, research and develop success metrics, communicate and engage with our customers. Additionally, you will work cross functionally with other teams creating delightful moments for our customers. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead, define, and communicate the long-term strategy, vision and roadmap of our Search platform with all key stakeholders, partnering with the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Build processes to deliver and maintain APIs and SaaS products that satisfy the needs of our customers
  • Collaborate with UX design efforts supporting product iterations of our dashboard as well as integrated platforms
  • Collaborate with engineering and machine learning teams to master the specifications of our APIs, and lead technical product development and integrations initiatives
  • Build and nurture an agile and innovative product culture within the group and company, founded on the importance of continuous and rapid prototyping and learning
  • Assess product development sprints and enhancement opportunities, monitor progress and evaluate results
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and metrics
  • Drive innovative ideas, solutions and products through leadership and decisive action
  • Understand the evolving competitive landscape and identify potential strategic partnerships for complementary product offerings
  • Build and grow a team of world-class product managers

What you should have

  • 10+ years experience in technical B2B product management
  • 6+ years experience leading teams of product managers
  • A GM mindest
  • Demonstrated track record of leading products from $200M-$400+ in revenues.
  • Demonstrated track record of building high value product teams
  • Demonstrated success in shipping and iterating on products within an agile software development environment
  • Ability to understand highly technical business problems, craft effective strategies to tackle them, and present simple solutions to our customers
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Extremely well organized with the ability to balance multiple concurrent priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic startup environment.
  • Demonstrable familiarity with building and shipping real-time APIs.
  • Experience writing code - for fun, college, or work - is a plus. We are looking for someone with a technical bent to communicate with our internal engineers and engineering management, as well as our engineering-focused customers.
  • Nice to have familiarity with search engines and search technologies
  • Nice-to-have familiarity with ML/AI technologies
