Position Overview: 

Alarm.com is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join the Client Team. Quality Engineers on the Client team are responsible for testing and certifying web and mobile applications and oversees critical priorities for the business and collaborates with internal teams like Product Management, Software Engineering, UX design, DevOps, and Support to ensure our software products meet quality standards of functionality and performance.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, at least 1 year of relevant experience testing on quality engineering related activities or projects, have computer/technology skills, the ability to communicate clearly, and will contribute towards product/system improvements to resolve in-field product issues and improve overall product quality. The candidate should be a self-starter who can work closely with the development team to discover, report, and validate fixes for issues.   

Responsibilities:

  • Understanding product functionality, data content, and system architecture of the product being certified.
  • Developing test plans and updating test documentation as needed before/during/after testing.
  • Executing manual tests, tracking defects, and following defects through the resolution process until fix is verified and closed.
  • Interacting with Developers, Stakeholders and Product Management to ensure the quality of the software and billing applications.
  • Setting up and maintaining test environments and testing tools.
  • Triaging urgent problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution.
  • Analyzing logs and data to identify the root cause of issues.
  • Understanding the customer and how the product will be used by the customer.
  • Being an advocate for our customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Designing and maintaining weekly smoke test.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant discipline
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, time management, and analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues and take corrective action.
  • Ability to work in combination of hardware, software, and network technologies.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical information.
  • Process-oriented with ability to pay close attention to details.
  • Exceptional communication skills to articulate quality assurance practices.
  • Self-motivated with strong technical background, and a deep interest in product quality.
  • Ability to make decisions based on test results to advise management and customers.
  • Team-oriented individual

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of QE experience in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • Background in Quality Engineering.
  • Experience with functional and regression testing, test planning, test case development.
  • Advanced computer/technology skills/certifications
