We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly reliable Data Center Technician to manage and support the daily operations of our data center. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a dedication to maintaining uptime, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The technician will be responsible for the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and infrastructure, ensuring optimal data center performance.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure infrastructure is organized, adhering to data center standards and best practices.
- Ability to perform data center installation such as racking of equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Perform routine hardware checks, preventive maintenance, and upgrades as required.
- Work closely with data center, network, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Inventory Management skills, maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory of all physical assets and consumables across datacenters.
- Work directly with other teams and vendors to troubleshoot issues or assist with services.
- Participate in capacity planning to accommodate growth and new technology initiatives.
- Perform cable management duties, including installation, labeling, and troubleshooting of network and power cabling.
- Implement, maintain and ensure all Security and Compliance standards are met in our data centers.
- Follow established security protocols to protect data center assets, and monitor access to the facility.
- Data center environment, with occasional on-call or after hours/weekend work as required for maintenance or emergencies
- Ability to work from our data centers in Ashburn, VA and our Tysons, VA office
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Technical certifications such as A+ or Network+ preferred.
- 4-6 years of experience in a similar role working in Data Centers preferred.
- Proficient with server hardware, networking equipment and data center infrastructure.
- Understanding of server operating systems encouraged (Windows, Ubuntu)
- Understanding of Virtualization Technologies a plus (VMware)
