As a Staff Software Engineer, you will utilize your software development expertise to design and develop robust solutions that enable seamless communication among our diverse range of smart home devices.  You will work closely with stakeholders across various departments, understanding their needs and requirements to ensure our solutions surpass expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Become a subject matter expert on current IoT protocols.
  • Lead the architectural direction of our protocols area.
  • Take on a mentorship role, providing guidance and support to our junior software engineers, fostering their growth and development within the team.
  • Develop full-stack software for a diverse range of platforms and technologies.
  • Engage in the research, evaluation, and application of new technologies and methodologies to solve complex problems.
  • Participate in the entire project life cycle, from requirements development to deployment.
  • Exhibit flexibility and hard work: our development cycles are quick, requirements evolve, and cross-team collaboration is frequent.
  • Exercise sound judgment: know when to work swiftly and when to build a robust solution.
  • Bring your ideas to the table!  We encourage our engineers to collaborate on product development, not just build to a spec.  
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with at least ONE modern IoT protocol: Matter, Z-Wave, Zigbee.
  • Extensive knowledge of the software development process and corresponding technologies.
  • Excellent understanding of design patterns and architectural styles.
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Strong object-oriented programming skills; C# a plus.
  • Experience with database design and development.
  • Familiarity with a JavaScript framework like Ember, Angular, or React.
  • Strong soft skills, including attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills
