Position Overview:

Alarm.com is seeking a Quality Engineer to support our Customer Experience team by testing the multiple end-user web and mobile interfaces offered to our customers, testing and troubleshooting the integration with some hardware devices and multiple software platforms.  The Customer Experience QE will be working on critical priorities for the business and collaborating with internal teams like Product Management and CORE to ensure our products meet quality standards of functionality and performance.

The ideal candidate will have a college technical degree, have computer/technology skills, experience testing mobile applications, will be able to communicate clearly, and will contribute towards product/system improvements to resolve in-field product issues and improve overall product Quality. You should be a self-starter who can work closely with the development team to discover, report, and validate fixes for issues.   

Responsibilities:

  • Understanding product functionality, data content, and system architecture of the product being tested
  • Developing test plans and updating test documentation as needed before/during/after testing
  • Executing tests, tracking defects, and following defects through the resolution process until fix is verified and closed
  • Interacting with Developers, Business Analysts, and Product Management to ensure the quality of the software and hardware products
  • Ensure performance and usability of the ADC mobile applications weekly
  • Setting up and maintaining test environments and equipment
  • Triage urgent problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution
  • Understanding the customer and how ADC mobile apps will be used by the customer

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related engineering disciplines
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, time management, and analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues and take corrective action
  • Ability to work in combination of hardware, software, and network technologies
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical information
  • Process-oriented with ability to pay close attention to details
  • Exceptional communication skills in order to articulate quality assurance practices
  • Self-motivated with strong technical background, and a deep interest in product quality
  • Ability to make decisions based on test results to advise management and customers
  • Team-oriented individual
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting mobile applications is highly desired
