The Sr. Manager of Data Operations will lead the production Data Operations team, directly reporting to VP of CloudOps & Security. As a leader in the DataOps team, you will drive the clear vision, execution roadmap and collaborate closely with engineering teams. He/She will drive best-in-class function in data operation support, provide speed of access for exploration and experimentation while ensuring protection, data privacy, security across all lines of business.  

The candidate is expected to be hands-on, self-motivated, proactive and solution oriented. He/She must be willing to mentor and challenge their staff, lead technical projects, assist team members in meeting their individual goals and to promote a positive attitude and work culture.

 

Principle Duties and Essential Responsibilities: 

  • DataOps Leadership: Responsible for strategic planning for the Data Operations team and managing data pipeline in production. Drive the execution of objectives while working closely with the engineering team. Provide best in class production practices that enables Aktana to meet the growth demand
  • Production Operations: Manage the full lifecycle of data pipeline in production, Database operations, Snowflake adoption, data loading issues, ETL pipeline for scalable operations, performance tuning. 
  • Technology Leadership: Participate as a key member of the Cloud Operations leadership team. Work and collaborate with services and engineering leaders to drive and align on the key objectives. 
  • Organizational Leadership: Create processes, manage, prioritize multiple initiatives. Work closely with Services, Engineering, Product Management, QA to meet business goals in a fast-paced environment. Recruit, retain, grow data operations team. 

 

What you’ll need to be successful... 

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in data governance processes in a data warehousing, ETL and business intelligence environment
  • Monitoring systems, databases and ETL pipeline for proper operation and performance.
  • Establishing standard processes around data pipeline for diagnosing issues, tracking status, and escalating issues within and outside the group. 
  • Working knowledge of Tableau, Power BI, or some other Business Insights system.
  • Experience building and delivering high quality data systems using tools from the Hadoop or Spark ecosystem
  • Experience in supporting and managing platforms like Redshift, Snowflake.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in managing data operations in cloud across global regions. 
  • Strong familiarity with relational database management systems; Experience with SQL, AWS experience is a plus
  • Proven experience in providing technical requirements (e.g., classifying data, tagging, etc.)
