SUMMARY: 

Our Finance Department is searching for a Senior Accountant to enhance our team. This hybrid role reports to the Director, Finance.  and offers opportunity for growth. The Senior Accountant will be a critical member of the finance team, helping to scale the finance function as the company grows.  You will collaborate with all levels of Company management to appropriately process day-to-day financial accounting transactions, month-end closing activities and the Company’s financial planning and analysis function. This hands-on position requires the ability to multitask and work effectively with others. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Accounting:
    • Assist in month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations.
    • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet general ledger accounts, including, but not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payable and accrued liabilities.
    • Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and provide supporting documentation to ensure timely and accurate filing of quarterly financial statements.
    • Manage the fixed asset register, including recording acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
    • Assist with external audits by providing documentation and explanations related to accounts payable and expense-related transactions.
    • Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX 404 and other regulatory requirements.

  • Financial Planning & Analysis
    • Quarter end and year end Process
      • Prepare, manage and update quarterly accrual files and participate in quarterly accrual meetings with R&D and G&A departments
      • Prepare balance sheet and income statement flux analysis
      • Prepare budget vs. actual analysis
    • Support the preparation and maintenance of the Company’s investment plan
    • Review of purchase orders prior to approval and administration of the Company’s purchase requisition system (Prendio)

Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a strong focus on general accounting procedures.
  • Prior experience with month-end and year-end closing processes desirable.
  • Experience working in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite and Prendio is a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong customer service focus
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
