Role Description

The Chief Architect role will be responsible for working with SLT and the wider Senior Leaders across Agilisys to understand the current and future technology opportunities across our chosen sectors of Health and Public Services. The role will support the business in managing our technology investment and risk decisions translating this into annual technology roadmap reviews and regular oversight and governance of our technology processes, policies and procedures. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to bring market insights and industry best practice to shape and deliver solutions for our clients and proposition leaders.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the quality assurance of technical direction across Agilisys’s existing and new propositions, including solution governance and driving increased standardisation of architecture, designs, development and support practices
  • Act as the point of escalation for all architects across the business
  • Mentor members within the community, providing guidance on enterprise, solution and technical architecture, design and methodology
  • Support and lead the organisation, providing thought leadership around solution options and best practices. Where necessary, this may include coaching and mentoring and facilitating discussions
  • Provide innovation to the company, thinking beyond requirements and making suggestions on how to improve solutions without over engineering
  • Provide solutions that drive down total cost and associated pricing to stay competitive through reuse, automation and optimisation
  • Proven track record of working collaboratively to design enterprise ready solutions
  • Ability to lead and direct teams of mixed capability across multiple disciplines
  • Review solution delivery per proposition Design Authority and Project Management to ensure compliance with defined strategy and architecture, assessing impact of deviations
  • Responsible for the design and communication of high-level structures to enable and guide the design and development of integrated solutions that meet current and future business needs, encompassing changes to service, process, organization and operating models
  • Champion the use of good design principles and ensure that non-functional requirements such as scalability, security, availability, reliability and performance are addressed
  • Support and encourage innovation through continuous review and appraisal of the developments in technology and assess how these will impact our solutions, business and architecture strategy
  • Assist with bids for new work and build business cases for new technology implementations
  • Maintains knowledge of IT infrastructure architecture, standards and practices, and consistently applies these standards
  • Ability to manage technology budget, resourcing forecast and plans
  • Should be able to provide and contribute to technology roadmap, delivery of development projects by internal and 3rd party teams
  • Understand and participate in the decision making process for technology architecture, infrastructure and digital operations
  • Managing 3rd party vendor relationships including cost and quality management
  • Managing quality assurance and security processes
  • Discover and implement new technologies that yield a competitive advantage
  • Ensuring all technology practices adhere to regulatory and legal standards
  • Responsible for timelines and quality of the development and deployment of all technical projects
  • Stay on top of technology trends and developments

What we are looking for

A Digital Services, Technology Consulting, IT Services leader with a background and recent knowledge and experience of working with Microsoft and AWS technologies and broad experience of customer experience technologies, applications, data architecture, cyber security, process and platform automation and infrastructure.

  • To lead the corporate Design Authority, and where required, engage with the per proposition Design Authority’s to define corporate design standards
  • Understanding of cloud ecosystem and leading-edge cloud emerging technologies
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Microsoft and AWS technologies specifically to deliver Cloud, Modern Working, Customer , Data and Automation solutions
  • Broad experience in customer experience (CXM), applications, data architecture, cyber security, process and platform automation (RPA) and infrastructure
  • Excellent understanding of IT landscape with an ability to communicate solutions at an appropriate level, transferring understanding to both technical and non-technical customers
  • Experience in understanding and creating commercial models and their practical application
  • Strong experience and understanding of IT governance processes
  • Demonstrable experience in end user design, application rationalisation and presentation
  • Strong experience of having designed diverse technical solutions based on business requirements
  • Demonstrate your prowess as a thought-leader within application and platform architecture to design innovative solutions
  • Proven track record of networking and collaborating across Government and wider partners to ensure that the latest innovative thinking and technology strategies are shared
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and understand solution design documentation including security
  • Confidently participates in pre-sales discussions and on-site client workshops
  • Experience in leading and shaping architecture resources, capabilities and strategy
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a project team

Candidate Attributes: 

  • 3 years’ experience of managing a team of >2 engineers/architects and delivering similar roles in large ITS and Digital organisation 
  • 3 years experience in public and private cloud environments; big data analytics; building scalable and extensible platforms using services and micro-services

  • 3 years leading the creation, iteration, and maintenance of enterprise architectures which typically involves the interpretation of business goals and drivers; the translation of business strategy and objectives into an operating model

  • Knowledge of, but not limited to, UML, TOGAF, n-Tier technologies and architectures, Public, Private and Hybrid Cloud architectures
  • Qualified in one ore more ITIL Foundation, Certified architect, Project management: Prince/Agile, ITIL, Power BI, DevOps technologies, MS Collaboration Technologies
