Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. 

Affirm is staffing an array of backend development teams in New York City that focus on enabling our product teams to grow into new verticals and geographies while handling the automation of complex financial processes at scale. True to the Affirm mission of delivering honest financial products that improve lives, our New York engineering teams are broadening Affirm’s impact by expanding into new financial markets while building a consistent and fault-tolerant financial platform.
 

What you'll do

  • Plan, design, communicate, and implement software systems with an eye towards robust, extensible architecture
  • Lead technical discussions and plans to improve our overall software quality
  • Develop technical specifications and decompose the specification into tasks and phases
  • Estimate project work effort and delivery, and create project roadmaps
  • Continuously raise the bar in terms of code quality, performance, and systems design
  • Collaborate with engineers across our SF and NYC offices.

  • Technical: Solid CS fundamentals and fluency of a dynamically typed language. We primarily use Python, but members of our team have backgrounds in a wide range of technologies
  • Collaborative: Enjoys cross team collaboration especially with product managers and designers
  • Humble: You have the humility and self-awareness to understand and navigate the unknown 
  • User Focused: Cares about the details in the user experience
  • Experienced: Background building real-time distributed web services, developing systems in web application frameworks and implementing highly available data storage
