American Farm Bureau Insurance Services, Inc. (AFBIS, Inc.) is looking for a Crop Insurance Product Development Manager to work out of our Fargo, ND or our Raleigh, NC office. We will also consider experienced remote talent for this position.  In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for creating and managing a variety of Crop Insurance product projects, from strategic initiatives to new products, along with updating and maintaining current products through policy development, filing, and implementation.

If you are a subject matter expert on crop hail and private product policies and have experience developing, evaluating, and maintaining competitive and profitable Crop Insurance products this might be a great position for you. This position will play a key role in supporting the company’s strategic objectives, increasing sales and expanding product offerings to new and existing markets.
 
Reporting to the Policy Administration Director, the Crop insurance Product Development Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing Developing private products, crop hail products and product enhancements and preparing policy documents, forms, and other documents.
  • Assisting in compiling and analyzing competitor’s rates and rules.
  • Researching and interpreting NCIS and state regulatory requirements related to crop insurance forms, data, and filings, provides guidance and recommendations related to state filings.
  • Managing state insurance filings via SERFF for crop products from submission to approval; including responding to state objections with additional information and required revisions and providing status reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Serving as liaison between NCIS, state insurance department and various functional areas with respect to department objections.
  • Assisting other departments with developing training and promotional materials for adjusters, employees, and agents to use.
  • Analyzing new insurance laws, regulations, and bulletins to determine applicability to existing products, revisions and to develop new crop insurance products.
  • Revising and implementing underwriting guidelines, rules, and procedures. 
  • Partnering with IT to prioritize, implement, and enhance products into various operational systems.
  • Coordinating with AmericanAg® and other Policy Issuing Companies serviced by AFBIS to assist with their crop insurance programs

What you will bring to this position:

  • 6+ years of experience developing crop named peril, crop hail and private crop products.
  • 6+ years of experience managing insurance filings from submission using SERFF to approval.
  • Knowledge of ratemaking and policy administration processes.
  • Understanding of NCIS and state regulatory requirements related to crop insurance.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, superior written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to manage deadlines, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Excellent research, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $105,000. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
