Our product R&D team focuses on identifying and designing new product lines that we can enable with our unique molecular assemblers and reaction indexes. The product team is the entrepreneur/scientist in residence building the next product lines for Aether. We work closely with the business development team and the leadership team to build a high-value, fast-moving product pipeline across several market segments, including pharmaceuticals, high-performance materials, and specialty chemicals.



We are looking to hire a full-time postdoctoral researcher to work with our team on designing next-generation copolymers based on precisely assembled and sequenced monomers. 

We are building a team of polymers experts to work with our protein and chemistry engineering experts to design and test our first-generation products. We are looking for a driven, self-starter, and independent post-doctoral researcher. You will help us model and simulate novel polymers and evaluate potential benefits based on several different monomer sequences and structures. These benefits may enable higher-quality manufacturing (e.g., better solubility, lower energy) or better mechanical/thermal/electrical properties. 

You will collaborate daily with the other technology groups: automation, machine learning, and software engineering, and interface with academic and industry experts to bring missing capabilities. You will discuss progress with the leadership team, investors, and industry partners. You will be part of a fun and collaborative team that can seamlessly work across very different fields.

We are looking for candidates with a sense of urgency, contagious optimism, and a can-do attitude. They must lead by example and hold themselves and others accountable while maintaining productive and professional relationships within the team.

  • A strong background in polymer science and engineering
  • Extensive experience with polymer modeling (e.g., coarse-grained and atomistic) and simulation methods (e.g., molecular dynamics)
  • The ability to use/update/create models and simulations to link polymer structure and function.
  • Exceptional scientific communication skills to bridge material science, biology, and computational methods. You can adapt on the fly your synthesis and narrative to different audiences.
  • Have a strong drive and resilience to navigate shifting priorities, R&D risks, and unexpected roadblocks.



The annual compensation for this role is set at $95,000 USD per year. 


The post-doc position is a full-time temporary role with an estimated initial engagement of up to one year. It is subject to the company business need and employment-at-will doctrine. This engagement may be extended to a second year or converted into a full-time regular position. You will report directly to our head of product R&D.
