Unified Commerce Team

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated leader to lead our Unified Commerce Strategy Team. In this role you will oversee a team of strategists responsible for identifying and executing against initiatives with the highest impact to the net revenue of Adyen’s Unified Commerce business.  This is a senior level, high impact role working within a matrixed structure balancing key stakeholders across commercial and product organizations.  

Adyen processes over €250BN a year for omni-channel customers (e.g. McDonalds, Uniqlo, H&M, and Hilton) and is looking for a leader to continue and expand its exceptional 30%+ YoY growth in this space. The Unified Commerce Pillar’s five-year ambition is to accelerate the digital transformation of omnichannel businesses with unified payments, broader financial technology and data solutions.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop methodology for prioritizing the most impactful projects and oversee a team that executes against this portfolio of projects.
  • Give structure to how we ask strategic questions and come to formalized conclusions. 
  • Develops ideas and works in coordination with the product teams and other stakeholders to execute from idea to initial implementation, all the way to general availability. 
  • Drive high-impact partnerships with leading players across the financial technology ecosystem, collaborating with Commercial Partnerships, Finance and Product teams.
  • Oversee Pillar’s Unified Commerce Pillar strategy planning, communication and feedback processes.
  • Assess potential entry into new verticals and markets with high growth potential, beyond existing Adyen focus areas. 
  • Advocate and influence senior management for the implementation of initiatives deemed strategically important. 
  • Conduct competitive analysis, uncovering vulnerabilities and opportunities for Adyen's growth.
  • Shape our go-to-market strategy and positioning for our critical product areas and communicate this in an actionable way to our global Sales & Account Management organization. 
  • Partner with Solution Leads and stakeholders to leverage data and qualitative insights, reaching data-driven conclusions on strategic questions. 
  • Proactively identify hidden opportunities with a significant impact on Adyen's business, independent of direct guidance. 
  • Engage in external forums as a senior stakeholder/thought leader in the business. 
  • Be a lead participant in customer-facing and public settings to evangelize strategy, drive adoption of products, and build excitement Adyen’s global Unified Commerce strategy. 

Who you are:

  • You have 10+ years of commercial strategy experience in the financial technology sector, either as an operator or a top-tier strategy consultant
  • You are a proven people manager and leader who enjoys motivating teams globally and bringing energy that inspires
  • You are structured in your way of thinking and writing, take a customer-first mindset, and live by an analytical approach
  • You are comfortable presenting to customers and larger audiences to communicate our strategies
  • You run fast and independently to drive strategic direction, and answer ambiguous, complex, and highly strategic questions
  • You have experience working in a global, multi-cultured, fast-paced, commercial environment
  • You have the ability to develop credibility with, and present to, senior executives and build relationships with customers and partners
  • You are curious about the payments and financial sector, unified commerce industries, and emerging financial technologies
  • You have a commercial mindset enabling support of commercial teams “on the ground” to drive product enablement and impact
  • You are able to independently manage multiple priorities with clarity and efficiency, ensuring timely and effective communication
  • Ability to travel internationally and work across time zones
