Model Risk specialist

We are looking for a Model Risk specialist in our Amsterdam office to join our global second line Corporate Risk team.

These are transformative times for Adyen; we are rapidly growing in new countries and are also broadening our product offering through our embedded financial products. We do this the Adyen way; we build it ourselves. This also applies to the financial and non-financial models that are part of our business model. In-house model development, using the latest statistical and machine-learning techniques. And also; in-house model risk management.

We are looking for a risk manager that wants to strengthen the banking capacity within our technology company by building out our model risk management framework. This is where you come in.

You have a proactive mindset, you are eager to learn and are looking for an opportunity to take ownership. Adyen has little hierarchy and management levels, so having expertise also means you will be involved in building, representing, and maintaining the full scope of model risk management yourself.

What you’ll do:

  • Carry out model validations on financial and non-financial models;
  • Offer effective challenge of models, including model assumptions, methodologies, data and calculations at all phases of the model life cycle;
  • Act as a sparring partner for model developers and providing subject matter expertise on modelling;
  • Participating in the creating and maintenance of a validation procedure framework;
  • Build out the Adyen model risk management framework;
  • Carry out risk assessments across the company, across product offerings, across the globe; and
  • Further strengthen a high-performing second line financial risk team that covers all Adyen risks;
  • Continuously improve Adyen’s global control framework together with the Internal Control team and Adyen business teams, based on changes in our business and processes.

We are looking for:

  • A proactive, energetic, lifelong learner with a hands-on mentality;
  • Eagerness to work in an innovative technology company within the financial sector;
  • Relevant working experience (5+ years) within model risk management or model validation either in-house or through a consulting role
  • High level quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to perform model validations on complex models
  • Great communicative and stakeholder management skills
