CODEX Design Engineer

Desktop Metal (NYSE: DM) is pioneering a new generation of additive manufacturing technologies focused on the production of end-use parts. We offer a portfolio of integrated additive manufacturing solutions for engineers, designers and manufacturers comprised hardware, software, materials, and services. Our solutions span use cases across the product life cycle, from product development to mass production and aftermarket operations, and they address an array of industries, including automotive, aerospace, healthcare, consumer products, heavy industry, machine design and research and development. At Desktop Metal, we believe additive manufacturing, commonly referred to as 3D printing, is one of the most exciting and transformational technology innovations of our time.

Adaptive3D, a wholly owned subsidiary of Desktop Metal, Inc. (NYSE: DM), is a materials manufacturing company that leads the industry in offering high-strength, high-performance elastomeric resins for production-grade, mid-volume 3D printing. As industry forerunners, we provide key insights and expertise in creating optimized, flexible structures that use an intrinsic shape-memory response and significantly less material to achieve better load-transfer capabilities. At CODEX, Adaptive’s Center of Design Excellence, these geometry-driven design approaches are further optimized to improve our customer’s experiences with end-part performance. The cost of injection-molding polymers is dominated by raw materials costs today; with your help on efficient design optimization, additive manufacturing will begin to displace many current forms of manufacturing. We are looking for highly motivated developers who share our vision of a greener plastics manufacturing supply chain driven by additive manufacturing technologies and fulfilled using our powerful resins, creative ideas, intelligent architectures, novel algorithms, and passionate team.

Adaptive3D’s core values set our company apart from our competitors, making it a fun and engaging place to work:

Respecting the Mind: We are actively receptive to ideas and perspectives from all our associates; with a flat company hierarchy, senior management is highly engaged in your professional development.

Challenging the Spirit: We are a fast-growing, recently acquired startup that works on solving problems our competitors have yet to even start considering.

Unlocking our Dreams: From artificial intelligence to decreased materials waste, our one-part, one-pot chemically stable, patented chemistry will fundamentally shift mid-volume production pathways into a more sustainable future. Are you ready to revolutionize the world?

Resume (1 page)

Cover Letter (answer the following questions):

- Imagine a world where every design idea you had could be manifested into reality repeatably and without fail (we’re not there yet, but one day!). Describe the types of challenges you’d have to overcome to continue to be successful as a design engineer.

- You received an offer to work in Additive Manufacturing and you zoom-call your best friend to tell them about it. “What does that mean?” They ask, not familiar with the concept. You explain:
