Acumen Academy is seeking a Senior Associate with a minimum of  5 years of professional experience to help with the ongoing design and production of our growing e-learning resources and course catalog. This is a great opportunity for a strong designer, writer and communicator seeking to work on a fast-moving global team. This hybrid position is located in London or New York with an expectation of working from the office 2-3 days a week, depending on location. Remote from other geographies is not an option.

About the role
Acumen Academy is growing our learning resource content library - which has a target of 50% of assets being video - and course curriculum offering to further support our global community of social builders and impact practitioners. This role will have the opportunity to conceptualize, design and create a range of new online courses and learning experiences and support ongoing improvements to existing curriculum. 

Accountabilities include: 

  • Design and produce new online learning formats including but not limited to courses and modular e-learning resource content with heavy a focus on instructional videos, but also including readings, case studies, workshop guides, practical assignments and facilitator guides
  • Identify and manage the contributions of suitable subject matter experts 
  • Understand the needs of our learners, draw upon extensive user research that has already been documented by our team and add new insights specific to the learning materials and content you produce
  • Research course and content topics to support social entrepreneurs and synthesize information from a range of sources including books, articles, expert interviews, learner interviews, and multimedia to define learning objectives and develop curricula
  • Manage the pre and post-production process for video assets; direct film shoots and manage the editing process for course videos 
  • Occasionally support the team with program design and content production for facilitated learning experiences 
  • Add and manage content and learning materials to a range of online learning platforms and support the team in identifying the correct platform for each material created 
  • Support team with learner troubleshooting and identify areas where the learner journey could be improved
  • Work collaboratively across internal functions including with the marketing team to enable the smooth launch of all new content 
  • Contribute to content marketing asset creation e.g. supporting with blog development

Skills and qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience including at least 3 years of designing learning content ideally with a focus on video production. Individuals with experience in developing engaging written and multimedia content through roles in communications, marketing, or other content creation are also encouraged to apply
  • Experience with learning design, pedagogy, curriculum development, online course production and facilitation
  • Detail-oriented project manager with the ability to balance multiple concurrent and dynamic projects
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Critical thinker accustomed to working, problem-solving, and collaborating thoughtfully with different colleagues and personalities, at all levels both externally and internally, and across a variety of functions and geographies
  • Experience developing digital content and ability to quickly learn new platforms and technologies
  • Digital skills and experience working with online learning platforms 
  • Bonus: Work experience in the Global South

The salary range for this role in New York is between $61,330 to $74,900 USD plus a performance-based bonus. This range represents the present low and high end of pay range for this role. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to experience. Acumen has equal pay, so pay is determined through comparison to a cohort of employees in the market at the same level of accountability. A full detail of compensation and benefits will be available through the first screening.
