Staff Software Engineer, Remote Administration

The Acquia Remote Administration team is focussed on crafting solutions that elegantly and effectively handle Drupal administration tasks so customers can focus on developing new features or on completing other high-value tasks. As a RA Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team that is building solutions to streamline and automate customer updates and maintenance, thus ensuring customers’ websites are always secure and up-to-date.

As the Staff Software Engineer, you will…

  • lead the team to develop far reaching modules that have scalability and availability at their core
  • contribute to our efforts to redefine the way we build, test, operate and supervise our cloud-based products and services
  • maintain a deep understanding of system functionality and architecture, with a strong focus on the operational aspects of the service (availability, performance, change management, emergency response, capacity planning, etc)
  • mentor team members and review their work
  • collaborate with other teams in deciding, developing integrations with other subsystems
  • participate in Scrum software development lifecycle
  • provide product support to internal and external partners
  • work in a team environment where you own and operate the services you build

What you’ll need to be successful…

  • have 8+ years of software development experience with time spent working on Cloud technologies (AWS preferred)
  • have at least 3 years of experience leading and mentoring teams
  • have hands-on experience building and operating distributed systems and/or service oriented architectures
  • comfortable with design patterns; writing clean, maintainable code
  • are comfortable navigating unix/linux based operating systems
  • have specialized, hands on experience with Drupal 8 implementations and/or solid PHP development experience
  • hands on experience with Symfony, Composer and Drush
  • hands on experience with automated testing and continuous integration
  • excellent oral and written communication skills

Extra credit if you…

  • have OSS/Drupal community contributions
  • hold AWS certifications
