The ACLU of Arizona seeks policy interns for the Winter/Spring 2024 session. Interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience by working in our Policy Department and assisting in all aspects of the ACLU of Arizona’s policy advocacy.

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

As an intern with the ACLU of Arizona Policy Department, you will work to advance our agenda across a variety of civil rights and civil liberties issues. Interns may attend legislative hearings and partner meetings, conduct media, policy or legal research, analyze the impacts of existing laws and policy, identify and engage with key stakeholders, create educational materials, and assist in the preparation of reports, testimony, or other advocacy documents.

We are seeking undergraduate, graduate or law students looking for a part-time internship. The internship may be used for work study or course credits. Currently, we are able to offer a $15 per hour stipend. Interns must work 10 to 15 hours a week. The estimated duration for the internship is 12-14 weeks.

We intend to offer two positions each beginning January 2024. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis and accepted until the positions are filled. All positions are hybrid positions and may require some attendance in-office or at the Capitol.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Interns must have completed at least two years of undergraduate education. Additionally, interns should possess the following:

Strong writing and research skills
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Initiative to see projects through to completion
Attention to detail, excellent organization, and time-management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Good interpersonal and analytical skills
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and a personal approach that values the individual and respects differences
Demonstrated interest in civil liberties, civil rights, and social justice
Commitment to the mission of the ACLU of Arizona
Students in graduate programs and law students are strongly encouraged to apply
