The Content Strategy Product Manager is a key cross-functional leader on the Product team tasked with leading the product development of our content management system (WordPress), content experiences, managing external content distribution channels (e.g. Apple News/AMP), concepting new content offerings and managing the achievement of growth KPIs by the editorial team. The position ensures internal users have the needed tools and features to create compelling editorial experiences, and external users have a positive content experience that drives deeper engagement, return behavior and traffic growth. This role is a key partner to Editorial Leadership.  

The Content Strategy Product Manager can work onsite at either of AccuWeather's offices in New York City or State College, Pennsylvania. Remote candidates are also being considered for this mid-level opportunity.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Define product roadmap for content (including CMS, editorial and audience initiatives based on editorial opportunities to drive growth (engagement/audience). Prioritize CMS roadmap and resources based on impact (e.g. design/development)  
  • Define audience/traffic KPIs for the content team, in partnership with EIC, and coordinate with the digital analytics team to measure, report and analyze. Hold team accountable for achieving goals; report on regular cadence  
  • Identify compelling opportunities to improve user experience, create more engagement or attract new audiences; both on-network and off-network (e.g. Apple News, Google AMP, Distribution optimizations)  
  • Primary liaison between product and content to align roadmap and desired outcomes. Document product requirements, lead development cycle from discovery to experimentation/testing to launch 
  • Coordinate with marketing on sponsorship and sales integrations; convene appropriate stakeholders such as EIC for alignment 
  • Coordinate with business development on partnership opportunities; provide guidance, outline process, and approval as product stakeholder in deals
  • Communicate regularly with cross-functional stakeholders on priorities and roadmap, capture feedback and build consensus 
  • Develop, test and optimize SEO for web properties; hold editorial team accountable against SEO traffic 
  • Support EIC with defining social strategy and achievement of growth and engagement goals 
  • Support EIC with content strategy development and execution; key stakeholder in developing tone of voice, verticals, formats and cross-platform assets  
  • Keep atop of new trends, platforms, technologies and other opportunities that are relevant to AccuWeather 
  • Be a leader between product and content that drives vision for AccuWeather and holds team members accountable for achieving growth (particularly in new domains and categories)  
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience  
  • Two or more years of experience working in a newsroom/editorial team environment, along with experience managing a consumer facing, B2B product, or technical system 
  • Experience working with WordPress CMS  
  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple content types articles, videos, images, and blogs  
  • Two or more years of experience helping to shape editorial strategy  
  • Knowledge of analytics tools such as Pares.ly and Google Analytics 
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with teams of all levels 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing environments 
  • Highly creative with ability to work within practical boundaries 
  • Remote candidates in Canada and the United States are being considered for this opportunity
