Job Description:
AFS is seeking a highly motivated System Test Engineer to support the integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of a Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance system to provide maritime domain awareness in Northern Africa. The system will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating security information to enhance the security and force protection of maritime boundaries, natural resources, and strategic ports. The ideal candidate will work as part of an integration team based in greater Boston, Massachusetts area, with occasional travel to Northern Africa to support both client and program initiatives.
The Work:
- Interact and collaborate with the Network Architect and Project Manager on a daily basis to meet production schedule.
- Collect and manage customer requirements and expectations, and plan weekly tasks for the team while remaining flexible and accommodating for last minute unplanned events/customer requests
- Be a part of a small engineering support team in the day-to-day systems engineering and integration efforts while possessing a strong understanding of the SE-Life Cycle from concept development, system design & development, to operation & maintenance while identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing risks based on impact, probabilities, dependencies, timeframes, and unknowns throughout
- Be proficient in supporting a Microsoft systems baseline and Cisco network baseline configuration of the maritime domain awareness system
- Develop and manage test procedures for hardware, sensors, and the overall program system.
- Support and, at times, lead end-to-end system test runs in both Boston, MA and in Northern Africa.
- Properly handle, integrate, test, and document hardware, sensors, and software material in preparation of building additional CIs. Monitor and test network and system performance for potential bottlenecks.
- Facilitate team SW Development and QA activities as needed through establishing and maintaining a lab environment in parallel while maintaining current production schedules
- Solve complex IT topics related to the project hardware and software design and take initiative to recommend and implement solutions
- Teach and advise team members on the system’s technical and functional issues
- Work well within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead by the Chief Engineer/Engineering Lead and participate in Preliminary Readiness Review (PRR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Architectural Working Group (AWG), Test Readiness Review (TRR) meetings
Here's what you need:
- Willingness to travel to Northern Africa to support the installation, test, operations, and sustainment of the maritime awareness systems
- 5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer or field support engineer supporting Cisco network (layer 3 switching, and routing) and Microsoft systems products (Windows/Server) in stand-alone or distributed test and deployment environment
- 5+ years experience with modern server deployment techniques including templates, scripts, imaging, and configuration management systems including, but not limited to; RAID drive configuration, IPMI, TCP/IP assignment, Network Time Sync management etc...
- 5+ years experience deploying and maintaining SQL databases
- 5+ years working with and understanding security concepts including but not limited to firewalls, encryption, and hardening
- 3+ years experience maintaining cyber-security best practices in production environments
- 3+ years experience with deploying and maintaining IT automation tools (e.g., Acronis or drive duplicator)
- 3+ years experience with data management and disaster recovery processes
- 3+ years experience with Point-to-Point (PTP) High Capacity Multipoint (HCMP) and High Capacity Line-of-Sight (HCLOS) wireless digital data backhaul radio configuration and deployment
