ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly qualified EL and Gifted Education Teacher dedicated to providing a superior education for all students in the 2024-2025 school year. We are seeking a dynamic educator excited to create a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes both English Language Learners (EL) and gifted students' learning and development.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary instructor for both EL and gifted students, ensuring an inclusive and effective educational environment
- Develop and implement a curriculum that addresses the diverse needs of EL and gifted students, incorporating technology and various teaching modalities
- Adapt and enrich the curriculum using multiple strategies and online tools to actively engage students for both enrichment and remediation purposes
- Assess students' language proficiency and academic performance to tailor instruction that meets individual needs
- Plan and execute lesson plans that align with state standards and cater to the specific requirements of EL and gifted education
- Create and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
- Foster a positive classroom environment through effective conflict resolution, collaboration, positive reinforcement, and educational leadership modeling
- Maintain accurate records on each student, including grade books, progress reports, lesson plans, attendance records, and behavior/discipline records
- Establish and maintain positive rapport with students, parents, staff, school administration, and other stakeholders
- Communicate effectively on an ongoing basis with students, parents, staff, school administration, and other stakeholders
- Prepare and administer standardized tests as directed, ensuring compliance with all testing protocols and procedures
- Utilize data to inform instructional practices, making data-driven decisions to support student growth and achievement
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with best practices in EL and gifted education
- Actively assist in student recruitment and retention activities as directed by the administration
- Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration
Qualifications:
- Current state teaching license in appropriate content area
- Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards
- Preferred two years’ experience teaching
- High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- High quality written and verbal communication skills
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook
- Ability to properly manage confidential information
- Ability to stand for up to 90 minutes at a time
- Ability to supervise students in all school settings, including in a classroom, on playground or in another play setting, in a meal room, and/or transitioning between any of these settings
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
- Experience working in a multi-cultural setting preferred
