About the TeamVirtual Preparatory Academy of West Virginia’s first virtual school dedicated to career development and preparation for ALL students. VPA WV will serve grades 6-12 and offer career exploration and pathway programs that will ensure students are started on a path to success on their college and career goals. A robust set of industry and community partners will inform students’ learning experiences and provide opportunities to students in communities across the state. 

ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly qualified CTE Coordinator for Virtual Prep Academy of WV who provides a superior education for all students in our 2024-2025 school year! The CTE Coordinator has the chief responsibility of developing and implementing a comprehensive career readiness program. This includes working collaboratively with administrators, student’s services staff, and teachers to ensure the delivery of career development services. The CTE coordinator also facilitates partnerships with parents, business/industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support students’ successful transition to postsecondary education and employment. Please note – while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face to face attendance will be required several times per year to support in person state testing and student events. This position follows an 11 month work schedule.

About the Opportunity

  • Supervise all Career and Technical Education (CTE) federal, state, and county accountability measures.
  • Supervise reporting process for the federal, state, and county Data Management System.
  • Maintain the Local Education Agency (LEA) plans.
  • Manages career readiness programming for all students.
  • Recruit students for available CTE programs of study.
  • Coordinates career planning activities in collaboration with the school counselor and other student services staff.
  • Assists students with course selections as it pertains to CTE and career/graduation planning.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with business, industry, education, and military community that provide opportunities for students.
  • Provides and coordinates administration and interpretation of career assessments.
  • Develops and oversees work-based learning opportunities.
  • Markets CTE programs and partnership.
  • Job fairs, guest speakers, site visits/field trips.
  • Delivers professional development and training to school staff on career readiness standards and best practices.
  • Participates in professional development activities at the local, regional, state, and national levels to remain current with emerging demands, trends, and careers in a rapidly changing workforce.
  • Supervise coordination of all Career and technical Education student clubs and organizations and attend (as schedule permits) Regional, state, and/or national competitions.
  • Supervise and coordinate permissive use of funds for:
  1. Perkins Grant
  2. State Vocational Grant
  3. Equipment Replacement Grant
  4. all special CTE grant funds such as Project Lead the Way, Modernization, etc.
  • Serve on CTE related boards, consortiums, and teams at the local, regional, and/or state level.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Special Ed. Department to meet the CTE needs of exceptional needs students with disabilities.
  • Make recommendations for long-term adjustments in the career readiness program to meet changing job trends and labor market needs.
  • Assists with activities to ensure program funding and compliance.
  • Delivery of NOCTI content and performance assessment.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

About You

  • West Virginia residence required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
  • WV CTE teaching license or the ability to obtain a CTE supplemental license preferred. (West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5202 requires all CTE administrators to hold the CTE Administrator Authorization. To obtain this authorization one must successfully complete the state approved CTE administrator coursework to include two specialized courses and seminar training. The coursework encompasses CTE planning, development, implementation, organization, and evaluation.)
  • Three or more years of experience with WV CTE, including creating and maintaining external partnerships.
  • A fundamental understanding of Career and Technical Education (CTE), its indicators as measurements of success, and the pathway approach in which CTE is implemented.
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Ability to work well under pressure as well as effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently.
  • Ability to work with a diverse and distributed student body and peer group.
  • Ability to pass state and federal background checks.
