The Maintenance Technician works as part of the Facilities department and is responsible for performing routine commercial building maintenance tasks under minimal supervision at assigned K-12 school location(s). 

As a Maintenance Technician you will be responsible for the following: 

  • Perform electrical maintenance (lamp replacement, ballast replacement, fixture and cover replacements).

  • Perform plumbing maintenance (drain and fixture replacement and repair).

  • Perform carpentry tasks (bulletin board installations, door and lock repairs, shelving installations and repairs, window repairs and replacements, etc.)

  • In absence of the school cleaner, assume general cleaning duties for buildings due to school cleaner absence as needed.

  • Handle wall repairs and painting.

  • Handle floor repairs and replacement.

  • Via use of the Company provided vehicle, move equipment, furniture, curriculum, miscellaneous materials as needed and assigned by Facilities Operations Manager.

  • Process work orders and completes appropriate paperwork.

  • Handle general miscellaneous maintenance duties as assigned by Facilities Operations Manager.

  • Other duties as assigned

 

About you:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2-3 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or industrial repair

  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License

  • Track record of punctuality and dependability

  • Able to drive safely and responsibly from one work location to another

  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Customer service oriented

  • Able to use common hand and power tools

  • Able to understand and follow oral and written directions as given

  • Able to operate a cargo van work vehicle

  • Able to use miscellaneous office equipment and computer programs in order to process work orders and complete minor clerical work related to position (e.g. calculators, smart phones, computers, tablets, FAX machines, copiers, etc.)

  • Willing and able to work in all types of weather

  • Willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Vision and hearing in the normal range with or without correction

 

Work Hours

Typically scheduled Monday through Friday 8:00  a.m. -  4:30 p.m.  Alarm and Emergency Service Calls during “On Call” Hours as designated by Facilities Operations Manager.

 

Work Environment

  • Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather.  There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday.  Work is performed both in an indoors and outdoors; travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, and all types of weather and temperature conditions.

  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; to climb unusual heights on ladders; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderate to heavy amounts of weight; to operate assigned equipment and vehicles; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
