Able is a product design and development studio. We work primarily with high-growth companies and nonprofits to elevate and accelerate their potential. We are seeking a Principal Product Engineering Consultant to be a lead product strategy and technical consultant for our partners (clients) and be the liaison between the business development and engineering teams.  The Principal Product Engineering Consultant will play a key role in bringing value creation to Able’s partners by providing digital product insight and detecting opportunities for success.

Over the past several years, Able has grown immeasurably. Our revenue and team have grown +30% y/y. We’ve also grown in the type of company that we are:

Chapter 1: We were founded in 2013 as a product and engineering hub for a portfolio of early stage start-ups. We grew up as an in-house/external hybrid shared services model. That allowed us to hone our skills and establish our operational and cultural foundation. 

Chapter 2. In 2019 we began to expand our vision. We began to grow outside of our inset partner base. We had good initial success meeting new partners, kicking off new relationships, and delivering high value work.

Chapter 3. We are now in the early stages of a new chapter, an expansion of the ambition of Chapter 2. Our strategy for growth centers around two audiences:

  • Venture Capital. VC firms are looking for trusted product and technology solutions to distribute seamlessly across their portfolios at scale. The founders at their portfolio companies are looking for capabilities that can accelerate their businesses' go-to-market time, while minimizing cost and risk.
  • Private Equity. PE firms are looking for trusted solutions that can catalyze growth for their portfolio companies at scale. The leaders of those companies are looking to leverage technology to unlock growth from their organizations.

We are looking for a leader who can design and implement the systems that drive our program delivery, overseeing unique value creation for our partners to drive sustainable growth for Able.

Your day-to-day

Reporting into the Director of Engineering, this role will be responsible for:

  • Lead Clients and Drive Business Growth
    We are seeking a leader adept at fostering innovative ideas for our partners (clients), enhancing their business growth and innovation. You will be instrumental in engaging in strategic technical discussions with executive-level stakeholders, leveraging our strengths to expand our influence and impact.
  • Define and Implement Technical Vision
    Your role involves standing at the crossroads of business and technology, shaping how we operate. You will be responsible for defining our technical focus, codifying our work processes, setting success metrics, and steering our growth agenda. Your leadership will be key in continuously refining and improving our approach.
  • Grow and Nurture High-Performing Teams
    As a mentor to senior-level engineers, your guidance will be critical in enhancing their capabilities in managing strategic partner relationships. You will play a pivotal role in developing their skills and fostering a team culture of growth and excellence.
  • Provide Cultural and Operational Leadership
    In this role, you will be a core member of Able’s growth team, contributing significantly to our strategic development. You will represent and uphold our values both within our team and in our interactions with partners, playing a vital role in shaping and embodying the essence of what makes us 'Able'.

What you bring

The ideal candidate is someone who has a track record of:

  • Technical expertise
    You have deep experience hands-on as an engineer as well as directing technical conversations with high-level executive stakeholders.  You are equally comfortable reviewing code or having technical discussions with a CTO as you are presenting to non-technical executive stakeholders.
  • Partner (client) management
    You have worked in a digital agency or consultancy setting overseeing technical products. Ideally, you have worked with enterprise clients. You understand the difference between client wants and client needs and are comfortable managing client expectations.

Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills are a requirement for this position.  

Minimal travel may be required within the United States.  Ability to travel within the United States is an asset.  

This position is 100% remote within LatAm.  We are looking for a Consultant who can commit to at least five (5) hours of overlap with our main team’s working hours (generally between 9am and 6pm EST / GMT-5 / New York Time).
