About the Role:  

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vice President of Product Management to lead our product management function, translating business needs into innovative new solutions that will exceed customer expectations. The ideal candidate will possess very strong technical expertise, in-depth knowledge of healthcare payer operations, agile product development experience, and depth of experience in healthcare tech-enabled services.This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of healthcare trends, strong cross-functional collaboration skills, exceptional client and prospect engagement acumen, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in leading the development of data products which drive significant customer ROI.  

You will: 

Lead and develop the Product Management Team: 

  • Lead and mentor an international team of product management and product marketing professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to the product management team, empowering them to effectively prioritize, plan, and execute product initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship and structured career guidance to help individuals develop and achieve their desired career growth.   

Be the voice of the customer: 

  • Represent the customer viewpoint (both internal and external) in all discussions to ensure the customer is always kept front and center.
  • Balance competing customer needs to align product direction with the highest impact for the market. 

Drive strategy and vision: 

  • Develop and drive the solution strategy, vision, and roadmap in alignment with Abacus Insights' overall business goals and objectives through quantitative market research and competitive analysis. 
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and communicate the long-term platform vision, ensuring alignment with market trends and customer needs. 

Foster innovation: 

  • Leverage strong technical expertise to guide the development and enhancement of Abacus Insights' product suite, ensuring the use of cutting-edge technologies and best practice. 
  • Drive innovation and the incorporation of emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge and meet evolving customer needs. 

Engage with customers and the prospects: 

  • Collaborate with Client Success to engage clients, understanding their needs and translating them into highly impactful solutions.
  • Engage with Sales and Marketing to keep a pulse of the market to inform future direction of the product. 

Drive Go-to-market Strategy and Execution: 

  • Oversee the development and execution of product marketing strategies that effectively position Abacus Insights' solutions in the market. 
  • Ensure sales team has compelling messaging and collateral that resonate with target audiences, untimately driving improved funnel performance and increased sales. 

Drive ruthless prioritization with transparency: 

  • Take-in and weigh a multitude of competiting viewpoints and drive alignment across the organization on product priorities. 
  • Regularly communicate product priorities and status to internal and external stakeholders to ensure transparency in product direction. 

Maintain the product roadmap and a healthy product backlog: 

  • Develop and continuously refine a forward-looking product roadmap which balances multiple competing priorities and aligns with business objectives.
  • Continuously cultivate a robust product backlog and ensure continuous grooming of new features to infrom the product roadmap.  

Partner closely with Product Engineering, Client Data Engineering, and Architecture: 

  • Leverage a deep understanding of platform technology to work with engineers and engineering leadership to inform high-level technical design and architecture.
  • Actively engage with technology teams to align delivery model and capacity allocation to optimize product delivery.  

Ensure highly effective Product Management / Product Development operations: 

  • Drive continuous improvement in product development efficiency and effectiveness, including continued adoption of Agile practices, in partnership with Product Development leadership.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success and Delivery to align on approach for client customizations and how to leverage custom work to inform and accelerate standard product direction.  

What we’re looking for: 

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in product management, with a focus on healthcare tech-enabled services.  
  • Proven experience leading product management teams and driving successful product launches in an agile environment.  
  • Strong technical acumen and understanding of cloud technologies including Databricks, Snowflake, AWS, and Azure.  
  • Deep understanding of healthcare payer operations
  • Previous experience working at healthcare payer is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with experience leading and developing high-performing international teams.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market data, extract insights, and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive prioritization in a highly engaged fashion, bringing alignment to differing viewpoints and clarity in direction going forward.  
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.
