About the Opportunity:

As the Head of Global Risk Strategy at OKX, you will spearhead the development and execution of advanced risk management strategies across OKX global markets. As the subject matter expert in risk strategy, you will stay ahead of emerging trends, regulatory changes, and the evolving threat landscape. You will lead a high-performing team of risk strategists, protecting OKX users from risk domains such as payment fraud, scams, and account takeovers. Your role will require close collaboration with cross-functional teams—including product, engineering, data science, sales, compliance, and legal—to ensure alignment and effective execution of risk initiatives across the organization. You will also maintain and grow relationships with external stakeholders, such as financial partners, regulators, and industry groups, to enhance our risk management practices.

Your work will be critical in safeguarding OKX’s global user base, partners, and reputation while driving continuous improvement in our risk management capabilities.
 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Global Risk Strategy & Framework Development: Design and implement scalable, tailored risk management frameworks that align with OKX’s global objectives and adapt to dynamic regulatory environments and market conditions. Develop product solutions to manage risk effectively at scale and protect user from various kinds of risk.
  • AI-Driven Risk Modeling: Lead the development of AI-first strategies to build, test, and iterate machine learning models for various risk scenarios. Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of these models.
  • Risk Operations Leadership: Drive the risk operations strategy by establishing a comprehensive closed-loop model for risk case review, escalation, and resolution. Ensure that risk cases are effectively managed and that operational processes are streamlined for efficiency.
  • Data-Driven Risk Reporting: Prepare and present detailed regional risk reports to executive leadership, providing critical insights into emerging risks, trends, and mitigation strategies that inform strategic decision-making.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build and lead a diverse, high-performing risk management team with deep expertise in the crypto industry. Foster a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and continuous improvement.

What We Look For In You:

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management, with a strong background in payments, fintech, or cryptocurrency, and a deep understanding of consumer risk issues, including fraud, cybersecurity, and trading risks.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing effective risk management strategies across multiple domains (fraud, cybersecurity, payment risks, etc.).
  • Experience building strong cross-functional partnerships with teams such as product, engineering, compliance, and legal, ensuring alignment and smooth collaboration.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with experience articulating complex risk strategies to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience in managing growing teams in high-growth environments, including recruiting, mentoring, and developing top talent.

Nice to Have:

  • Ability to address ambiguous challenges and craft strategies that drive clarity, alignment, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience with cross-border payment risks, especially in the context of crypto businesses.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to align multiple parties with varying priorities toward a common goal.
  • Proficiency with quantitative analysis tools such as Python, R, or Stata, to inform risk modeling and decision-making.
  • Bilingual in English and Mandarin is a plus, enabling effective communication across global teams and stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with blockchain architecture design, smart contracts, and various DeFi primitives

OKX Statement:

The salary range for this position is $394,000.00 to $530,000.00. The salary offered depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition to the salary, a performance bonus and long-term incentives may be provided as part of the compensation package, as well as a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
