Your role and impact
 
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a Security Engineering team that is responsible for driving a culture of security across 98point6. You will collaborate cross-functionally to identify and manage issues, provide training on security topics and be the trusted counsel for the company in this area. Your position will include growing and managing the team of engineers with the goal of enabling the entire engineering organization to build and operate secure systems and applications.

Strategic projects you will lead in your first year include:

  • Collaborating with product engineering to relentlessly improve how security engineering fits into the software development lifecycle
  • Leading design and implementation of robust detection and response systems for our services and applications deployed in AWS
  • Creating a security champions program that enables broader awareness and participation in security engineering and creates a career path for interest in security engineering at 98point6
  • Growing and developing the security engineering team through hiring and individual career development
Responsibilities
  • Recruit, manage and develop a diverse group of engineers at all levels, including planning team growth over the coming years based on company objectives
  • Develop team members in alignment with their needs and goals
  • Prioritize, plan and schedule your team’s work
  • Lead development of tooling and frameworks to secure our products throughout the entire SDLC
  • Lead engineers in security incident response and participate in root cause analysis to help drive KPIs
  • Drive technical and process improvements with measurable impact on engineering teams and the company
Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience managing or leading a security engineering team
  • Experience growing and developing a security engineering team
  • Experience prioritizing, planning and scheduling work for an engineering team with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: application security, securing cloud infrastructure, vulnerability management, SDLC, corporate security
  • Past experience designing and coding in Java, C#, Python or similar language for production services that operate on the public Internet
  • Past experience using AWS, or other cloud service provider, to build production infrastructure and operate at scale
