RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Kroger Precision Marketing (KPM) enables brands to deliver relevant messages, offers and experiences through direct-to-consumer communications through digital advertising and in-store activation.

 

As a SENIOR DATA ETHICS SPECIALIST, you will be responsible for providing strategy and thought leadership in the domain of applied data ethics to our data science community and our business partners.

 

 

This job will focus on:  

  • Bringing your knowledge and experience around ethical data decisions to provide strategy to our communities through

 :

  • Establishing a Data Ethics Committee, collaboratively craft a charter, vision & strategies’
  • Supporting and reinforcing our customer trust obligations with our Kroger customers through compliance of applicable data ethics rules and regulations;
  • Promoting the quality of Kroger’s data and insights by helping detect and avoid implicit biases and other practices that may negatively affect the quality of data sets and insights which may violate Kroger customers’ expectations, or damage consumer trust in Kroger’s brands;
  • Serving as a key representative of 84.51°’s data ethics program and be an embedded data ethics advocate for the company;
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining internal and external data ethics principles, policies and processes. Work closely with our Data Science community and business partners across the organization to develop and implement those policies and processes;
  • Providing data ethics guidance to our teams when designing new solutions;
  • Researching trends in ethics and responsible AI;
  • Collaborating with academic and industry partners where appropriate.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

 

The right person will thrive in a fast-paced environment and must possess the following:

 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred or PhD) in technology policy, applied ethics, philosophy, or related field
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Recent professional industry experience in data science/software engineering in roles such as data scientist, technical project manager, etc. – preferred but not required
  • Passion to research the trends, opportunities and ethical considerations around the use of data and AI
  • Innovative thinker that can provide thought leadership in the emerging area of data ethics
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, people, and diplomacy skills are required
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Initiative, detail orientation, strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment
