VP, CORPORATE CONTROLLER (G5)

CINCINNATI, OHIO

SUMMARY:

The VP, Corporate Controller will lead, manage and scale the Company's core accounting function, including accounting operations, technical accounting, compliance, and financial reporting. This individual will report to the CFO and will collaborate closely with other teams such as FP&A, Commercial Operations, Sales and Business Systems. Ability to collaborate and build trust with 84.51°/ Kroger Leaders and proactively solve key business challenges is a must.

This individual will be responsible for the Company's financial processes, including developing and maintaining an appropriate control environment, establishing accounting policies, ownership of core systems, and designing and executing process improvements. A primary role will be to focus on strategies initiatives & innovation to drive impact on the enterprise and can create vision and build best-in-class accounting organization.

This role will own a significant span of control and influence in supporting a $1B organization. The successful candidate will be a strategic individual with both public and private sector experience building and leading teams in a dynamic, global environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

General and technical accounting

  • Own the close process and related reporting, general ledger and consolidations
  • Plan and direct all accounting activities across the organization, to ensure compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, statutory guidelines, and internal financial policies and procedures
  • Provide guidance on GAAP technical accounting
  • Participate in key strategic initiatives and assist with other ad hoc projects
  • Lead the accounting team, providing inspiration, coaching, performance feedback and career growth opportunities

Finance operations

  • Oversee billing and collections efforts
  • Liaise with leaders across business systems, sales, tax, treasury, and other functions
  • Oversee all expenses, including accounts payable, payroll and employee reimbursements
  • Build the technical infrastructure and control environment to support the company’s high growth
  • Leverage technology to build scalable/sustainable processes to create efficiencies, streamline accounting operations and improve employee experience

Internal controls and processes

  • Ensure effective internal controls and appropriate accounting procedures
  • Streamline, maintain and improve processes and internal controls

Finance People Leadership

  • Serve as member of the Finance Leadership Team and responsible for attraction, development, engagement and retention of our talent
  • Manages change within the accounting function, including strategic, operational, and people initiatives, modeling the leadership behaviors and 84.51° core values

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in accounting leadership
  • Previous Controller or Assistant controller experience
  • Basic understanding of Revenue under ASC 606
  • Experienced business partner, skilled in building trust and inspiring others
  • Excitement around navigating a high-growth, and sometimes ambiguous environment
  • Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong ERP systems experience, preferably in Dynamics365
  • CPA and Big 4 audit experience preferred
