As the Manager, DevOps at 7shifts, you’ll collaborate closely with our Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Director of IT, and engineering leaders to enhance and establish processes for production operations, infrastructure monitoring, incident management, and CI/CD pipelines. Reporting to the CTO, your expertise will be instrumental in optimizing our production environments to drive efficiency across the organization.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a small team of passionate, experienced DevOps engineers responsible for infrastructure supporting > 1 million restaurant employees
  • Work closely with your leadership peers in product, data, design and security to ensure alignment across  R&D
  • Engage in ongoing experimentation with innovative processes to continuously improve your team's efficiency and productivity
  • Prioritize technical debt and work with the team to manage a technical backlog and roadmap
  • Facilitate developer meetings and cross-team communication to ensure alignment and collaboration
  • Act as a mentor and coach to support and guide teammates in identifying skill gaps and fostering their growth
  • Optimize operating costs by implementing robust monitoring practices, strategic planning, policy enforcement, fostering team collaboration, and leveraging provider tools for efficient resource use
  • Planning for and ensuring the scalability and capacity of cloud infrastructure to meet current and future demands

What you bring:

  • Experience as a senior engineering leader who's comfortable pushing code to production when necessary
  • Experience scaling production infrastructure, leading DevOps teams responsible for mission-critical services and systems
  • Hands-on experience with cloud service providers, experience configuring a variety of services, and utilizing Kubernetes to its full potential
  • A strong technical foundation - you feel comfortable diving into the code and interacting with developers at all levels of seniority
  • The ability to give and receive feedback and ensure that expectations are clear and understood
  • Skilled in leading calm and efficient incident response, minimizing downtime, and facilitating rapid recovery in high-pressure situations
  • Demonstrated ability in disaster recovery, ensuring swift restoration of systems and data to maintain business continuity and reduce operational impact

It’d be even cooler if you had:

  • Experience scaling production infrastructure beyond 2 million monthly active users, leading multiple teams
  • Proven experience building and scaling robust web/app services
  • Knowledge of Domain Driven Design (DDD) and Command Query Responsibility Separation (CQRS) to manage coupling and define boundaries
  • Production-level experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and Terraform 
  • Experience with a good portion of the technologies that we utilize
