What you will be doing:
• Build, develop, and manage high-quality, customized WordPress websites, microsites, and applications in a variety of front-end and back-end technologies as the Agency's technical lead for a wide range of social justice and workers’ rights initiatives.
• Develop page types, taxonomy language, menu systems, and other WordPress CMS data structures based on wireframes and project requirements.
• Create and manage the website back-end including database and server integration.
• Convert Figma designs into component-based HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Participate in all stages of development, testing, implementation and maintenance.
• Oversee architecture for web servers in cooperation to ensure maximum performance and up-time.
• Develop and manage WordPress plugin creation and optimization, primarily using PHP.
• QA test websites for browser compatibility and responsive performance.
• Oversee development of web projects using PHP, Javascript, HTML, CSS, SQL, and web services, and third-party tools.
• Run and troubleshoot issues and routine maintenance on existing websites: feature changes, bug fixes, third-party updates to optimize speed, performance, and security.
• Communicate proactively with team members to translate concepts and design into functionality, establish timelines, and report on progress and results.
• Stay up-to-date on industry changes and best practices.
 
Your experience:
• At least 2-3 years experience as a WordPress web developer in a fast-paced environment. Agency experience not required, but a plus.
• Collaborative approach to defining, designing, and developing web projects.
• Fluency with front-end technologies, including WordPress, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and optimizing responsive websites.
• Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications
• Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers
• Strong understanding of information architecture as it relates to both front-end and back-end development.
• Experienced in managing and scoping technical projects, providing accurate estimates of work, and resource management.
• Proven ability to work well in a fast-paced growing environment and demonstrates ability to adapt to new technologies and trends.
• Familiarity with web development best practices, including cross-browser development, tablet and mobile website development, and responsive design.
• Familiarity with relational databases and production processes.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
• Strong understanding of project management roles and responsibilities.

The current minimum starting salary offer for this position is $45,000. The current maximum starting salary offer for this position is $70,000. Starting salary offer amounts are furnished at the discretion of the agency with adherence to contractually guaranteed minimum pay rates and are also based on the relevant experience level of the applicant and on agency hiring needs. 617MediaGroup is proud to be a union shop and 617MediaGroup employees are covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
