Summary

The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for sourcing suppliers and products for our core business operations, fulfilling the task of a buyer negotiating terms with vendors, ensuring adherence to outlined terms and conducting on-going cost analysis to confirm relationships are in the company’s best interests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and interview potential suppliers
  • Research and negotiate terms with suppliers such as price, quality of products, deadlines, expectations, etc.
  • Develop sourcing lists for various commodities to support the development of requests for information
  • Must be able to develop tiered vendor KPI’s and hold them accountable to agreements
  • Liaise with suppliers and operational procurement managers regarding updates and details of goods or services in the pipeline
  • Create purchase orders and tally these with supply requests and orders
  • Analyze invoices to ensure accuracy of goods delivered
  • Monitor inventory to ensure the flow of goods remains positive
  • Attend meetings and provide cost analysis to ensure any contracts are favorable to the company
  • Ensure venders are sustainable and fully endorsed via our national vendor selection process
  • Work closely with the internal project team to understand the details of procurement requirements

Experience and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline is required; equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree
  • 3 - 5 years of experience purchasing commodities and /or services is required
  • Complex understanding of wood/steel pricing index and relationship building methodology
  • Complex understanding of tractors, trailers and forklift industry, components evaluation
  • Very familiar with fleet management
  • Must be proficient in basic office software applications (such as Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must exercise good judgment in safeguarding confidential or sensitive. information and adhere to high standards of confidentiality and honesty.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work professionally in a team environment and independently as necessary
  • Must be a team player and have positive attitude.
  • Ability to Identify problems, analyze alternatives, and develop viable recommendations
  • Act with integrity at all times when representing the Company
