7 is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer in its Cloud platform/DevOps team. This is a key role driving the automation efforts, evolving our 7 Cloud platform in support of the our B2B SaaS product. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who despises repetitive, manual tasks and automates them out of the way. You know what it takes to build a highly reliable, scalable, always-on services, and are experienced in developing and running cloud services—you know both private/public clouds. The candidate also understands quality engineering practices and knows how to implement effective service-level monitoring and auto-healing systems.
Grow our Prometheus-based ChatOps monitoring service and integrate new services with PagerDuty and MS Teams.
Build & own Logging as a service
Evaluate opportunities to address problems with in-house tools or suggest new technologies to address these issues.
Mentor other members of the technical staff on emerging technologies
Provide support for existing deployment systems and systems management as we look to migrate service to cloud-native toolsets.
Provide ongoing technical and leadership expertise by managing peer code-reviews and testing to maintain high standards
Maintain infrastructure design standards, ensure they are documented and up to date, and lead efforts to take new technologies into stack on continual basis as appropriate.
Work with development teams to ensure their efforts integrate seamlessly into the platform.
B.A./B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience work experience.
8+ years of software development experience with proficiency in Python, Perl or similar.
8+ years of experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous delivery
Experience with Docker containers, Kubernetes Orchestration and Chef recipes
Experience with Linux – CentOS and provisioning automation tools like Chef and Ansible
Experience with Github
Experience in other virtualization technologies, such as VMware.
