Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager II, Mechanical Engineering to lead and develop a high-performing team of engineers in the design, development, and commercialization of innovative biotech products. Based in our Singapore office, this role will require expertise in mechanical engineering, a proven track record of bringing products to market, and the ability to collaborate effectively with US-based teams. Key Responsibilities:
- Build, lead, and manage a team of mechanical engineers, driving technical excellence and fostering professional growth.
- Establish team performance metrics and accountability structures to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality engineering solutions.
- Act as a key stakeholder in global product development strategy, providing technical insights to guide decision-making.
- Oversee the design, analysis, and development of complex mechanical systems, ensuring solutions meet product performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
- Manage all stages of the product lifecycle, including conceptual design, prototyping, testing, validation, and transition to manufacturing.
- Resolve high-impact technical challenges, drawing on deep mechanical engineering expertise and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Ensure rigorous testing, validation, and documentation of mechanical systems to meet performance, safety, and quality standards.
- Partner closely with US-based product development and operations teams to ensure successful delivery of products to market.
- Navigate time zone differences and cultural dynamics to maintain productive working relationships with teams in the US and other global locations.
- Leverage industry best practices and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge in product design and development.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred) with 15+ years of experience, including at least 7 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven track record of developing and commercializing complex mechanical systems and devices, particularly in biotech or related industries.
- Demonstrated success in managing end-to-end product development, from concept through launch, with teams based in the US and globally.
- Strong technical expertise in CAD (e.g., SolidWorks), FEA, thermal and fluid dynamics, and materials science.
- Extensive experience in collaborating with global manufacturing teams to optimize designs for production and market readiness.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory and quality requirements for product commercialization, including experience with PLM/QMS platforms (e.g., Arena).
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to mentor team members and collaborate effectively across cultures and time zones.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry (e.g., biotech, medical devices, life sciences).
- Familiarity with US-based market dynamics, customer expectations, and supply chain considerations.
- Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership on critical technical and strategic decisions.
