About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Director of Product Management to lead the strategic and tactical product management efforts for both the Xenium in situ and Visium spatial platforms. This pivotal role will drive the strategic roadmap in partnership with R&D  and execution for the entire spatial platform portfolio, ensuring strong leadership across two critical product lines. The position will report directly to the VP of Spatial Business and will oversee platform strategy, market opportunity assessment, and product management roadmap input and execution for short and long-term growth.

The role requires an integrated approach to understanding customer needs, market dynamics, and technology trends, and it will interface with key cross-functional teams, including R&D, quality, operations, product marketing and sales. You will be responsible for developing a cohesive strategy that aligns product offerings with market opportunities and future growth potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the internal and external champion for both the Xenium and Visium spatial platforms.
  • Lead the spatial platform strategy, driving long-term vision and growth initiatives for both platforms, including platform roadmap input, deep customer/market understanding, and market expansion.
  • Define and maintain a comprehensive business plan for spatial platforms, including in-depth forecasting and ongoing product optimization.
  • Deeply understand and shape portfolio positioning, as well as overall landscape positioning. Ensure this positioning is brought into all assets, tools, and into our strategic roadmap planning
  • Build process, scale, and standardization amongst the teams and across the organization to drive increased efficiencies
  • Assess market opportunities, trends, and competitive landscapes, ensuring both platforms are aligned with market needs and future opportunities.
  • Collaborate across the organization to drive new product introductions, sustaining/life cycle management projects, and continuous improvements across both platforms.
  • Ensure strong integration with cross-functional teams, managing priorities, resources, and stakeholder engagement to achieve product milestones.
  • Lead customer and market research initiatives to understand customer feedback on the platforms and drivers of utilization to identify new opportunities and translate them into actionable product concepts and market opportunities. .
  • Own the pricing, sales strategy, and profitability goals for the spatial platform portfolio.
  • Act as the key product management representative on core strategic platform teams, ensuring alignment on technical and market objectives.
  • Oversee a team of product managers, and guide individual PMs on ensuring organizational growth and capability development as business needs evolve.
  • Develop and coach a high performance product management team. 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Develop and execute a unified spatial platform strategy across Xenium and Visium product lines.
  • Define customer needs and related product requirements for product development teams based on market research and emerging trends.
  • Drive product development efforts in collaboration with spatial PM team and R&D, ensuring product designs meet market and customer expectations.
  • Ensure the execution of product launches in collaboration with marketing, sales, and business development.
  • Balance short-term sustaining work to drive the existing platforms with incremental launches and new features with long-term strategic initiatives to drive growth and new markets across both platforms.
  • Lead the development of detailed financial models and business cases for product development and market entry strategies.
  • Collaborate with regional and global marketing teams to ensure product readiness and support sales enablement activities.
  • Manage product profitability and optimize pricing strategies in coordination with sales and marketing teams.
  • Actively support cross-functional leadership teams in troubleshooting field issues, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Foster and lead a high-performing team of product managers, focusing on team development and organizational success.

Required Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in product management, preferably in life sciences, genomics, or clinical fields.
  • Proven leadership in managing product portfolios, including market research, financial modeling, and roadmap development.
  • Experience with spatial biology platforms, genomics, in situ technologies, or related fields.
  • Ability to drive complex product launches with cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong strategic mindset, with the ability to assess market opportunities and guide product strategy accordingly.
  • Experience in pricing, forecasting, and delivering on profitability goals.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills for both internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, evolving environments, with a strong track record of managing multiple stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

Preferred Skills:

  • MBA or advanced degree in life sciences preferred.
  • Deep technical knowledge in genomics, molecular biology, and/or spatial biology technologies.
  • Experience in histology, imaging, and/or hardware product management.
  • Demonstrated success in launching sequencing, spatial or imaging-based tools.
  • PhD in a life science field is a plus, particularly with a focus on genomics or molecular biology.

Below is the base pay range for this full time position.  The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience.  At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package.  This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.  Your 10x recruiter can share more about the Company’s total compensation package during the hiring process.
