About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Research Associate to join the Protein Engineering Group. The candidate will be expected to work on a variety of protein engineering projects to optimize and generate differentiated enzymatic leads, including protein expression, purification and characterization.
What You Will Be Doing
- Participate in protein engineering efforts to optimize various enzymes used in 10x Genomics products
- Directed evolution of enzymes using mid to high throughput screening systems.
- Protein expression of various enzymes, preferably nucleic acid modifying enzymes
- Protein purification utilizing variety of methods (affinity, ion-exchange, hydrophobic, size-exclusion chromatography)
- Perform complex experiments with strong attention to detail and documentation
- Accomplish goals under project team timelines
Minimum Requirements
- BS/MS degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Structural biology, or similar field
- 3+ years of experience and knowledge in protein expression, purification, and characterization
- Experience in generation and characterization of protein variants
- Experience with protein engineering and enzyme screening.
- Experience in molecular biology
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral skills
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
- Experience with nucleic acid modifying enzymes is a plus
Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
