Microfluidics Engineer

We are seeking an exceptional engineer/scientist to join the Microfluidics Group. Our team develops the microfluidic consumables that form one cornerstone of 10x products. We collaborate closely with experts in Molecular Biology and Chemistry and provide them with microfluidic technology platforms that enable their work. To be successful in this role, individuals must (i) have a strong understanding of microscale transport fundamentals, (ii) communicate effectively with non-microfluidicists, (iii) be driven to innovate, and to both find and solve problems, and (iv) work effectively with the team towards the success of 10x.

Key Responsibilities

Use your understanding of microscale transport and troubleshooting ability to engineer new products
Plan and execute methodical, efficient experiments to develop robust microfluidic consumables
Communicate results clearly and contribute quality data for making critical design decisions
Develop new experimental tools for the characterization of microfluidic systems

Desired Background and Abilities

BS/MS/PhD in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field, with an emphasis on microfluidics (industry experience is a plus)
Experience with microscopy, fluorescence imaging, high-speed imaging, microfluidic single cell analyses and particle manipulation
Glass and plastic microfabrication and chemical micropatterning skills (e.g., photolithography, dry and wet etching, injection molding, hot embossing, imprint lithography, microcontact printing)
Demonstrated success in bridging the interface between micro- and macro-fluidic components (e.g., automated fluidic delivery systems, chip-instrument connections)
Programming and simulation skills (e.g., Matlab, Python, COMSOL, OpenCV, C++)
Excellent data analysis and critical thinking skills
Thorough attention to detail, without the tendency to get lost in them
The motivation and organization required to deliver on a diverse set of tasks over short times
