In 2023, we launched a men’s line called Mando.  Mando uses the same technology as Lume but has different scent profiles.

Job description 

About the role: 

This role will be the Head of Technology at Lume. This is a senior, strategic role at Lume, joining the Lume leadership team. Strong candidates for this role will have a deep understanding of business strategy, experience with people management, and an ability to leverage their knowledge and experience in both areas to drive department and org-wide strategies for the technology team. 

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Managing, leading, and mentoring Lume’s engineering and data functions. Ensuring the team is motivated, productive, efficient, and engaged. 
  • In close collaboration with the Lume CEO and Lume’s Head of Product, developing and communicating a clear vision for the organization’s technology strategy, creating a roadmap and establishing quarterly OKRs (and ensuring all goals are clearly tied to business strategy). 
  • Collaborating with executive leadership and other departments to understand team priorities, supporting these priorities through data and engineering initiatives
  • Being a hands-on leader for data: overseeing the implementation/maintenance/improvement of the Lume/Mando data warehouse,  the democratization of data across the organization using Looker, and  data quality assurance and management across the Lume organization
  • In close partnership with the Director of Engineering, leading the technology & engineering strategy across LumeDeodorant.com, ShopMando.com, and more.
  • Overseeing the definition and implementation of data governance policies.
  • Managing and mitigating risks associated with data, including data security and privacy
  • Developing and managing a technology budget

This should describe you:

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in senior technology leadership roles.
  • Experience managing different tech teams that span a variety of different roles (data, infrastructure, IT) 
  • Strong track record as a software or data engineer, and experience with both fields
  • Strong track record of developing and executing technology strategies at a high growth CPG, DTC or ecommerce company, especially with a rapidly expanding employee count
  • Experience working with or close to executive teams deciphering complex business challenges and turning it into tech strategy.
  • Exceptional leadership and team-building skills; experience with managing people managers 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Deep familiarity with ecommerce technologies such as Shopify, cloud computing technologies such as GCP, and business intelligence technologies such as Looker
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, IAM, and data governance best practices

That said, our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our total rewards package, which also includes a comprehensive set of benefits and our equity program. The base salary hiring range for this position is $250,000-$270,000, but the final compensation offer will ultimately be based on the candidate’s location, skill level and experience.
