Role: Creative Director

Location:  Johannesburg/ Cape Town/ KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa

 

ROLE MISSION

Working in partnership with our client, the Creative Director will be expected to demonstrate a range of skills and cross-functional experience, driving creative excellence throughout the client's portfolio as well as in internal projects as required. You will oversee and direct conceptual and design projects and will ultimately be responsible to collaborate with the various creative teams to ensure the quality of ideas and the end-to-end design execution of jobs, from brief through to implementation and delivery. This role will inspire, lead and support the client’s creative teams at all levels of creative output across the various accounts and play a significant role in defining and advancing a positive and highly productive ideas/design culture for the client.

  • You are able to combine a deep understanding of relevant trends inherent to the creative, FMCG, pharmaceutical and financial services industry etc…with a varied skillset that will include conceptual thinking, copy/design/art direction for all forms of digital content, shopper, as well as understanding of motion design, social and ecommerce platforms, and their ways of working.
  • You have a passion for innovative and effective creative excellence that will inspire the team to consistently develop great work that can be put forward into South Africa’s leading creative awards platforms

ABOUT THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING

Reports to Managing Director / Operations Director

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN YOUR ROLE

  • Oversee the client creative output to meet client’s brief and exacting standards: to proactively monitor the quality of design projects being produced and submitted by leading internal review sessions and seeking feedback from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Direct and review the team’s work to ensure the highest quality, accuracy, and consistency as well as Brand compliance.
  • Champion best practice and creative excellence throughout the creative team: help the creative team and clients to find solutions to their briefs as needed.
  • To investigate, propose and implement innovative ways of delivering design services to maximise efficiency and productivity.
  • Mentorship and line management of the department: to motivate and influence the creative team to constantly strive for excellence in performance.
  • Lead regular/annual creative reviews per client to ensure successes are acknowledged and challenges overcome.
  • Master a variety of brand tone of voice, visual identities.
  • Drive training and development of the department.
  • Creative reputation building: drive creative excellence and lead the development of the client awards submissions (internal & external), show reels, and other collateral when needed in collaboration with the various creative leads and the client leadership team.
  • Collaborate with the relevant team members from other disciplines.
  • Be the creative face the client.
  • Develop an effective working relationship with colleagues and client.
  • Keep the client's leadership team up to date with creative work being delivered.
  • Help to build creative culture within the team.
  • Support the team in expanding the portfolio within all client portfolios.
  • Plug into the wider client Global creative team.
  • Complete timesheets and drive compliance within the creative team as needed

  • Be proficient in Adobe CC, Microsoft Office and other related software.
